The Checklist

I have started a checklist of things that need to be taken care of prior, whilst and after the actual move to Canada. It’s gonna grow massively, that much I know already. There are matters like health care, car insurance, pension funds, driver’s license and not to forget opening a bank account and transferring some money from here to there. Also, I need to determine, which items of my household I want to hang on to and which ones I need to get rid of in order to keep cost of freight at a tolerable level. With regard to the latter I pretty much anticipate selling and giving away as much as possible. That comprises all furniture, the majority of eletric and electronic gear, e.g. the vacuum cleaner, washing machine and such. Another big item is my car (my beloved BMW MINI Cooper, which I want to keep for as long as possible, preferrably until my last day in Germany (which, of course, will be impossible).
