Whoa. This pretty lengthy analysis paints a rather dark image of America’s future. I have always loved and marvelled at the mentality of pulling together in times of crisis and setting all petty disputes aside when vital interests of Americans are concerned or when desaster strikes like it did with hurricane Sandy. A sense of community and helping each other always seemed to be predominant in the American people. This is one of the reasons I would have loved to go to the US or Canada to live and work there a few years ago. But according to the article, progress in overcoming the nation’s challenges of the 21st century might be a direct result of the system in place. And that system is one that we have repeatedly seen to support the 1% while often blatantly ignoring the 99%. B.t.w. – I see a similar ‘reintroduction’ of class and clash of interests between the ruling powers and the ruled going on over here. Here’s to hoping, some nifty think tank will find better answers… These are interesting times we live in.
